Wow Air Collapse

The budget airline we were flying to France went bankrupt and ceased operations last week. While it was a stressful event in some ways, it was a relief as Wow had been having financial struggles since before the beginning of the year and I was seriously getting worried about being stranded in Iceland or even worse, in the Chicago airport.

Luckily we were able to rebook for a similar price on another airline right away. Nole’s flight still needs to be rebooked but we have some time yet before we need to do that. We already got a quarter of what we paid back and looks like we will get another quarter as well. The jury is still out for the last half but we filed a grievance through the credit card company.

In the end, although it was a disappointing turn of events and cuts into our incidental funds, we are carrying on and going with the flow. On the up side, we are arriving in Paris a day earlier and now have 24 hours to adjust to the time change and relax before boarding our train to Strasbourg.

How I imagine my kids will deal with jet lag:

An exciting discovery was that they have Costco in France and I can use my membership card there. Although we are looking forward to trying all kinds of new foods in France, a little bit of the familiar will go a long way to stave off homesickness for the kids. Let’s hope they carry Goldfish crackers!
