Nous sommes prêts

We’re ready!

The bags have been packed and repacked and we are down to a few last minute items to throw in our backpacks.

I adjusted the straps on everyone’s backpacks today. Esme says hers it too heavy but it only has clothes and her kindle in it so not sure there’s much we can do about that. Everyone else is happy. The boys are headed out on a walk around the neighborhood with their backpacks on right now.

The gray and blue bag has airplane snacks and the black carry-on has gifts and two car booster seats in it.

These are our before pictures. I also measured and weighed the kids to see how they change in the time we are gone.

Even with as little as each person brought (one week worth of clothes, an electronic device and a few personal items), I’m wondering if we packed too much.

On the advice of a friend I recorded myself speaking French to see how I improve. I won’t post that because it’s embarrassing but it was fun seeing Asa’s face when I realized he was listening in. The kids haven’t heard me speak much French.

Tonight, the kids are having a long-planned sleepover with friends and we are volunteering at my work tomorrow. I have 2 evenings of work left. We leave on Friday afternoon. After lots of waiting, it’s almost time to go!

  1. First of all – you look great! And what a great experience for your family. You are planned and will be ready for whatever is thrown at you all to handle with calm and grace.
Love being able to follow the adventure – thanks for doing the blog.
Go forth – learn, love, and make memories.
    Safe travels.
