Strasbourg, a multi-cultural city

Being on the border of Germany and having seen pictures, I expected Strasbourg to be a blend of German and French culture. Although the buildings have the typical half-timbered German look to them and many of the shops sell pretzels and other German items, the city feels overwhelmingly French.What I really didn’t expect was how the city seems to embrase other cultures as well. In America we like to think of ourselves as the melting pot but at least in the two cities we have visited here so far, I have noticed people from all over the world living and working. Most notable are the multitude of restaurants featuring cuisine from other countries. I’ve noticed halal, Chinese, Japanese, gyros, pizza, crêpes, and Indian curry all on the same block.See some examples below:
