This morning we did Montessori work with Céline, her kids, and some others that come to her home in the mornings.

We had a lot of fun with some geography puzzles, especially the USA one that we excelled at. We also did a European one that we needed a lot of help from a map to do.

Then we had a race to see who could finish first. Céline and the European kids with the European countries or me and my kids with the states. The European team won but it was pretty close.

We had some outside time where we shared some games we know (human knot and 7-up) and the kids had some free time to play their own games like tag and swords.

After lunch, we went to visit centre-ville of Dijon. They have a beautiful arch:

And cobblestone streets to explore:

Lots of shops too. A Japanese shop caught the eye of Céline’s daughter and Esme and Nova found some tiny cats to buy.

A very old building face “la Porte de Lyon”
The goal of our walk was to find la chouette de Dijon (the Dijon owl) which was a stone owl on the side of a church. You touch la chouette and make a wish.

We walked to Place de la Libération from there. It’s a beautiful square that is actually more of a half circle. There are fountains that the kids could put their feet in. I even got a little wet helping Céline’s daughter play in the water but it was a beautiful day and it helped cool me off.

Céline didn’t mind that the kids used some of the snack she brought to feed the pigeons which totally made Cal’s day. He copied her daughter who had them eating out of her hand. Nova also gave it a try.

Before we left Cal got a hold of one, granted it was not a very good hold and the pigeon got away. It left behind quite a few tail feathers which resulted in part horror and part humour for Céline and me.
Cal I see your getting closer to catching it. I know you have been trying since you got there! Not sure what you’re going to do with it once you do.
Have fun guys….miss you.
