Asa found this gun-shaped root mass at the beach yesterday. He decided to give it to our hosts’ son and wanted a picture of it.
We left Vallon-Pont-d’Arc just after breakfast this morning and headed to Baux-de-Provence to see an immersive art experience called at Carrières de Lumières. There were two shows, Vincent van Gogh and Japanese Dreams that we got to see.
First, check out the bug Asa caught in the parking lot.

Below is what the exhibit looks like before the show. It’s a large open space with white stone walls, ceiling and floors. The film is a series of moving paintings and is projected on the surfaces in the “cave”.

At this point, we lost Cal. He wanted to walk around freely during the show but when the van Gogh part ended he left thinking it was done. Thus we spent the Japanese Dreams portion looking for him only finding each other after it had ended. We decided to sit through a second showing of van Gogh to be able to see the Japanese Dreams portion.

Cal, who loves all things Japanese, loved this exhibit. Check out his expression in the above photos.
Then it was time to go to Toulon to drop off our rental car. Our bags are quite difficult to handle now, mostly because of the groceries we are carrying with us (leftover things we have collected like ketchup, salad dressing, etc). We plan to try and consume as much as possible if not before we leave the ferry, then by the time we leave Corsica. The title is what I cried as we walked from the car drop off to the rental agency window.
When we dropped off the rental car, the kids spotted a conveniently located kebab restaurant across the street which meant we didn’t have to take the bags very far. I was not sure about it…the last one we tried was not that great. This one was amazing. Everyone loved the food and the staff was very nice.

We had 4 hours until our ferry departure but I thought with the weight of the bags we had best take a cab to the port and wait it out there. We were able to board the ferry around 7pm, 2 hours before it’s departure time. This gave us time to explore the ship.

The kids even found a small playland area and I let everyone buy a treat (against my better judgement–remember we need to eat the food we are carrying!).
Now it’s time to tuck in for the night. Here’s hoping everyone tolerates the rocking of the ferry well!

Your color balance is set correctly. This whole place is set in a 1970s color scheme complete with elevator music being played in all public places.
That’s a very cool art exhibit! I’ve never seen anything like that. How was the boat trip to Corsica? I’m hoping everyone could sleep. Very cool.
