La Corse is the French name for Corsica.
Our host Emilie suggested some local beaches for us and today we went to the first one together. It’s called Porticcio beach and it was fairly touristy but we don’t mind that.

The view. That’s Ajaccio on the distance and the smaller islands you see in the distance on the far left are where we will go tomorrow.
First, I went to the grocery store this morning to get supplies for a picnic lunch. The store was located in a “gallerie” or “atrium” which is basically a small mall.
We met Emilie and the kids at the beach, which had course sand which reminded me a lot of Ft Lauderdale beach. There weren’t too many people there and the kids can fun playing on the beach and in the surf.

Cal and Asa want all the way in. I tried a couple of times but despite the warm sun, it just wasn’t hot enough outside for me to swim.

Today, Nova was a cat which prevented her from going down to the water because cats don’t like water. Maybe she will change her mind at the next beach.

Nova is sitting on my new new beach blanket which is actually a table cloth. It worked great and the sand slid right off!

We left the beach and went back to the apartment and after showers and a little rest we decided to go to that mall with the grocery store in it rather than do a walking tour of the centre ville. Esme really wanted to get a new swimsuit, one that she could put on herself. The one we brought has ties and she doesn’t like that she needs to have someone else put the top on for her. We found one she liked at H&M and I let each of the other kids pick something out. Nova picked sunglasses:

…and she’s been wearing them ever since. Asa picked out swim trunks. He brought only his speedo style suit and he wanted trunks for the beach. He also bought a shirt with his own money. Cal didn’t want clothes and grumbled because I wouldn’t let him use the money it would have cost for a shirt on candy.
The mall also had a fun playland which was free. We were all pretty impressed by it. Only about half of it is in the picture below.

I also let everyone get a treat.

After picking up a few more groceries we went home to make dinner. Emilie and the kids joined us for our Japanese dinner.

After dinner, we all went for a walk around the neighborhood before our hosts headed back to their house.

The view from our apartment balcony.
