The kids initials in order of birth are C.A.E.N. so when I saw we were going to be staying near a city named Caen, I hoped we could visit. Today we got our chance with our hosts.

This morning, Cal didn’t wake up around 5 am to play Mario Maker 2 with his cousin Aidan like he had planned. He slept in until about 9. The pictures below are from about 10 am which is when I got up.

Around noon, we headed to Caen to the site of the château which is in ruins.

Sheep were grazing in the moat!

It was hot (again) so we headed for a fountain near the university.

Asa found some lamb’s ear and did his best Yoda impression.

Then we stopped at a little restaurant called Juste Chez Moi for ice cream. I let everyone chose anything off the menu which meant we all went for something big.

The owner had his adorable French bulldog at the shop. It was a short visit but on a hot day like today, it was just the right amount.
