Plage de Cabourg

After leaving Caen we went with our hosts to a beach about 20 minutes away. I have about a million pictures from the beach since we spent all evening there. The tide was coming in fast so Esme decided to build a fortress against the waves. Then our hosts helped her fortify it.

The first wave comes and it survived!

It’s evolving!

Nova who stayed on the blanket again for the first hour or two decided to come check out the waves and loved them. They weren’t so scary after all!We found lots of interesting shells and other things on the beach.

Razor clam shell

Lots of complete clams and many of them complete with clam still inside! The tide washed them back out and I assume they lived.

Some people call these sand fleas but they are actually tiny crustaceans called springtails.

Crab shell covered in barnacles.

The kids had a lot of fun breaking shells with rocks. And burying people. And I tortured the kids by making them wait for sunset at 10:10pm before taking them home.
