Youpimom’ and an evening in Tours

Saturday July 6

Today we went to an indoor play area called Youpimom’ because the kids begged for it, especially Esme.

One of the attractions was called the tornado. After spraying a coat of silicone spray on the surface, the operator calls all the kids to sit on it, then turns it on to spin. To add to the challenge, she sprays water on them, swings a wreckingball style hammer and has them raise their hands or stand up. A little dangerous maybe but very fun! I think we need to build one in our house 😉

Temperatures are in the 90s today and without air conditioning at Youpimom’, it was a little hot. The kids could have stayed all day but we needed to cool off so we went back home to relax. We went back to Tours at about 7pm for dinner at a Japanese restaurant.

Then we took a walking tour of Tours, led by Yannick. We saw the theater, the cathedral, and the railway station.

Then we went to see the free light show at the art museum called Les Nuits Renaissance which focused on da Vinci.

Very large tree in the courtyard of the museum.

This is the museum before it got dark.

The wall in the background is from Roman times, built in the 1st century.

The light show started and it was really beautiful. It showed how art, math and science are all connected. It was fun and engaging and we all enjoyed it. It was a great way to end the night and our time in the Loire Valley. We stayed here a week which is the longest we have stayed anywhere since Strasbourg. It was a nice change to slow down and really explore a region.

The cathedral at night on our way back to our car.
