Asa’s unbirthday

Tuesday July 9

Tomorrow is Asa’s birthday but since birthdays are more fun with friends and we will be traveling tomorrow, we celebrated today.

Asa’s hair looked like a firework over the Eiffel Tower when he woke up.

This morning, Blandine, Cal and I ran errands including getting supplies for Asa’s lunchtime celebration. When we got home, we baked a brookie (a brownie-cookie), made garlic bread, and heated some chicken noodle soup (Asa’s requests). Asa set the table for his party.

After we ate lunch, we had brookie and special ice cream that you slice.

He even got a couple of little presents: a game and a gummy hamburger. There was a card from his grandparents too.

The boys played video games for part of the afternoon and then Blandine treated us to a birdwatching boat tour on the Loire river.

From the boat we went to see Aurélie’s home for apéro (before dinner snack/drink) and then to downtown to a Japanese restaurant (hey, it makes us happy!).

After dinner we walked in Nantes.

It wasn’t very hot but the kids enjoyed playing in the fountain anyway.

Tag or “loup” (wolf) as it’s called in French.

Cal and Nova playing a game that involved his wet shorts…

We came home for round 2 of birthday ice cream before going to bed.
