We arrived at our Airbnb in Paris today. Since it’s a national holiday, some of the Metro stations were closed. This meant we needed to change trains an extra time and do a little extra walking with our baggage. We were in good spirits though when we got there. We were able to drop off our things and get a late lunch at a great little French restaurant a few doors down. We all loved the food and the owner was really nice. After that we went to our Airbnb to relax a little. I had a great glass of wine with lunch which meant I needed a nap (I’m a lightweight).

We were all surprised when we entered our apartment (which is two levels down from street level) that we had a window with this view:

We are at least 3 stories up. Our apartment is in the 18th arrondissement/Montmartre. Montmartre is a hill, hence the difference in height at the front and back of the building.
After my nap we walked to see the artists at Montmartre. We had a drawing of the kids done. You can watch the progress below.

The kids really enjoyed this more than I thought they would. We had some crêpes while we waited and Cal and I saw this guitar duo perform.
Asa and Nova found pieces of charcoal pencil and made some drawings on the bricks while they waited.

Asa’s dragon face.
We went back to the apartment where I did some organizing and we ate the fruit we bought from the market downstairs. I was really surprised how many stores and restaurants were open today. It’s a Sunday as well as a big holiday. I guess that’s one of the benefits of living in the big city. The fireworks at the Eiffel Tower should be starting any minute but we decided to stay home in bed rather than fight the crowds tonight.
