Tuesday July 16
The kids and I did the Eiffel Tower with my mom when we were in Paris in May but Nole still wanted to see it. Today we went to Arc du Triomphe which I had never done before. It was stairs only and we definitely felt the burn. Asa counted and there were something like 267 steps to the top.

Montmartre–the area our apartment is in.

Then we went to see the fountain at Trocadéro Gardens to cool off and look at the Eiffel Tower.

We grabbed a late lunch from one of the vendors. This is a hot dog, or their version of one anyway.
Then we were kind of not sure what else to do. I really wanted to go to the Rodin Museum but it was about 20 minutes away. In the end we decided to go for it. We took the bus, which was super crowded but luckily we got a couple of seats on it. When we got there we needed another drink after that hot bus ride so we stopped at a café, our first café on this trip.

Nova’s sparkling lemonade called “Pschitt!” gave us a few laughs.

Nole had a French beer.

Asa had fresh squeezed lemon juice which came with a carafe of water and a sugar shaker.
We got to the Rodin Museum and were a little disappointed that they no longer offer a garden-only entrance for 4€ and we had to buy a total museum pass for 12€ per adult in order to see the gardens. We paid the fee and toured the gardens with the kids, stopping to see The Thinker (in French, Le Penseur) first.

“The Gates of Hell”. Notice “The Thinker” just below the top.

We finished our garden tour and then thought we might as well go inside to see the museum too. We were glad we did because there were lots more beautiful sculptures to see there. Who knew one person could produce so much.

“Young mother with child”

“The Kiss”

“Eternal Idol”

We took a very crowded Metro back to the apartment for a pre-dinner rest and then grabbed a fast-food dinner before going back to Pont Neuf for a sunset cruise on the Seine. We were really lucky to watch the Eiffel Tower twinkle from the boat. It lights up for 5 minutes every hour with thousands of twinkle lights.

Nole has an Eiffel Tower hat!

After the cruise we stayed to watch another Eiffel Tower light show before catching the Metro home.
