Ed-in-bruh

This is how you pronounce Edinburgh if you want to sound like a local. Better yet, something that sounds more like “Em-bruh”

Today we climbed to Arthur’s seat, the summit of an extinct volcano. It took us about an hour to climb and an hour to come back down. It was a beautiful day today and a great day for a hike.

Rad Cal. (It actually said radical)

It was a steep climb at times but definitely do-able. There was some complaining and we took frequent rest breaks.

This rock had an interesting bowl in it.

Ancient graffiti.

Then we walked back to our apartment for lunch stopping for an ice cream and some fountain foot soaking. After lunch we walked down the Royal Mile and stopped to look at shops and street performers.

Cal’s name on a sign…well sort of.

An owl conservative group was offering chances to hold an owl for a small donation. Then we went to “The Whiskey Experience”. It starts with a ride with information on how whiskey is made. Then there is a tasting after they explain the different types of whiskey. Since Nole loves whiskey, he was in heaven. The rest of us found it interesting. The kids got to try a Scottish soda called “Irn-bru”. It was sort of bubblegum flavored and the boys liked it.Nole tried a whiskey from Islay (with a peat smoke flavor) and I tried one from Speyside (fruity but mostly it just tasted like whiskey to me).We walked to a place we saw earlier that served breakfast all day to eat dinner and spent the rest of the evening cleaning the apartment we used and packing up for our big trip home tomorrow.
