Cal had a Zoom interview this morning (he got the job!) and we left the hotel in Lexington for Tennessee. We stopped at Cumberland Falls first. There was a rainbow over the falls and the girls just happened to be wearing rainbows today so they matched the waterfall!

Then we walked down to a lower overlook.

I made Asa go inside a hallowed out tree even though he said there were spiders in it.

Then we went to Goats Coasters on the Roof in Pigeon Forge. This place is nestled right up to the Smokey Mountains. It’s a very touristy town like Wisconsin Dells. Dollywood is also in Pigeon Forge but we didn’t go there today. Maybe next time! The kids really want to go back there. Today we were just seeing the goats and passing through.

There was also an alpine rollercoaster. Nova didn’t want to go so first Esme and I went. You control your speed with hand brakes. It was really fun! Then Cal and Asa went twice.

We stopped at a Cracker Barrel for dinner and unfortunately it was pretty busy. We had to wait to be seated about 30 minutes. While we waited we played some games like follow the leader and telephone. Playing telephone turned out to be hilarious. The message didn’t make it through the 5 of us intact even once. Plus it turns out the girls are really bad a whispering in ears. Esme kept breathing really hard in our ears which tickled and made it hard to hear what she was saying.

Then we got to the hotel in Chattanooga at about 9pm. The problem was they had us marked as cancelled even though the website showed the reservation as active. Besides that, the neighborhood was a little sketchy. There were people arguing loudly in the parking lot and car alarms going off. The hotel clerk didn’t seem inclined to help us figure out the mistake either.
When I looked online for rooms at other hotels, there was not much available. Like literally 4 hotels had rooms with two beds available in greater Chattanooga. Two of them were $400+ a night. There was a Days Inn downtown available for a decent price but I wanted to look at it before I booked. When we got there, it didn’t seem much better than the first hotel.
At about 10pm, we ended up at a Hilton brand hotel. It cost a little more than I had originally planned on spending but it is worth it to feel safe and comfortable. Plus I have a Hilton Honors membership so I get points for staying here. I will be contacting Hotels.com tomorrow to get my money back on the hotel that turned us away.

We don’t have early plans for tomorrow so we stayed up to watch Luca which was released on Disney Plus today. We all really liked it and now at midnight, we just turned off the lights and are going to sleep.

I absolutely love your travel blogs, always so full of fun and detail.
