Quote from Nova, on being impressed with our newest accomodations.
We left Cordele, GA after breakfast and drove to Daytona Beach Shores. It rained hard. The entire way. Asa and Cal have been working on the license plate game and we found a few more states we were looking for on our drive.

We made a couple stops including Walmart to get some sandals for Nova–hers were broken, and a rain jacket for me. Looks like we are in for rain for the next few days and I only packed jackets for the kids.
We got to Daytona Beach just as the storm was arriving here. Sand was blowing all over the road. We are staying at a motel for the next two days. It is painted bright blue and definitely was built in the 1950s. It is spacious though with two bedrooms and a full kitchen and the owner is very nice and accommodating.

There is a boy staying in the motel complex that came over and introduced himself already. This is just that kind of place. He is visiting here from Virginia and gave us the run-down on the pool and the beach.
The motel is right across from the beach. After dinner I asked the kids if they wanted to go check it out. It was raining and they didn’t want to go so I took a walk alone. I practically had the beach to myself.

When I got back to our room, I asked the kids if they wanted to go for ice cream. Of course they did.

When we were done with our ice cream it had stopped raining. The kids wanted to check out the beach. For a moment I thought, “we should go put out swimsuits on” and then I thought, they won’t want to swim. It was only a matter of seconds before “I’m going to put my feet in” turned into “I am under water” for all of the kids.

As you can see in the video the kids were screeching and laughing and rolling around in the surf. People were definitely staring. If only everyone could have this much joy from something so simple!
I dragged them away at sunset and we all showered. Our wet and sandy clothes are just piled in a corner of the shower for now. I will have to deal with that tomorrow.
Here is hoping that the weather gives us a bit of a break again tomorrow.
Fun times even if it’s cloudy…sometimes thats better because the sun’s not beating on you. Looks like it may rain daily that’s not uncommon for Flroida.
