Good Day Sunshine

Daytona Beach Shores, Florida

I wanted to see the sunrise today.  I remembered from last time I tried that you need to get there 30 min before sunrise to actually see the sun rise so I set my alarm for 5:30am.  Last night all of the kids wanted to go too but this morning Cal was too tired.

Then we went back to the room and got our suits on to make the most of the day since rain was predicted.  First we checked out the pool.

Then we went to the beach.  Cal joined us then.  It was only about 7:30am at that point.  We got an awesome spot right near the beach entrance since we were there so early.

We had McDonald’s delivered to the beach for second breakfast at about 9am.  I bought the kids some boogie boards and they had fun with those. I didn’t take many pictures at the beach because I was busy keeping an eye on the kids even though I made them all wear life jackets.

We spent a lot of time catching sand fleas.

Sand flea exoskeleton.

We played in the surf a lot and got lots of sun. I applied, reapplied and re-reapplied sunscreen to the kids but Esme and Cal still got a little burned.

By about noon we were all pretty tired and we got burgers for lunch and went back to the room.  Some of us took naps. I just spent some time cleaning (ack, sand everywhere!) and organizing. It never did rain today although there is still a chance of rain this evening. They’re predicting rain again all day tomorrow. If it doesn’t rain, we will probably go to the beach again. If it does, we may head to Orlando early.

Tonight’s plan is live music and seafood, two of Nova’s favorite things.
