Holiday Road

After our hotel breakfast this morning we got ready to do our pre-cruise COVID tests. We bought kits online that you take during a virtual visit. Unfortunately they don’t allow same day appointments (doh!) so we made appointments for early tomorrow morning.

We had 8 hours of driving ahead of us.  It was a totally different drive from our first one.  The kids were louder and hungrier and their little bladders filled up fast.  Our 8 hour drive took us more like 10, all told.

We took the road less traveled most of the way after we missed a turn off near Atlanta.  We drove most of the way on a two lane road.  We stopped for gas in some out of the way town in Georgia where they sold wings, wigs and farm animal feed.  The wings were delicious!

For dinner we picked up pizza from a Little Ceasar’s and ate it in the parking lot behind the restaurant.  Very classy!

Then it was just 10 minutes to our hotel from there.  We got checked in and the girls and I decided to take a look around.

Even though it was getting dark and the air temperature was only 65 degrees, they wanted to go in the pool.

We went back to the room and got their suits on.  I was fully prepared for them to change their minds but they did get in!  Meanwhile, I sat wrapped in pool towels trying to stay warm.

I helped the girls shower and we will probably watch more cable tonight and eat leftover pizza.

  1. The backroads of Alabama and Georgia are an adventure themselves! Grace was like “mom, look at all their stuff in the yard, I think they are having a rummage sale, can we stop?” She didn’t understand that the stuff in the yard was there all the time!
