The two nights we are staying in Nova Scotia (last night and tonight) we are staying with a Boondockers Welcome host. We have been hosting RVers for about 2 years. This is our first time taking advantage of the program by staying on someone else’s property. These hosts have been amazing and they have an area on their property set up for RVs with high powered outlets and water.

They live right on an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. These pictures were all taken from our campsite. The first two were when it was cool and foggy this morning and the second two this afternoon after the fog burned off.

We spent the morning at the campsite. There was another camper here with a boy Nova’s age and they wanted to play together before he left–they headed out about noon. I made pancakes for all this morning and then the kids played in the camper until it was time for them to get on the road.

We had pork chops for lunch and then drove a half hour into Dartmouth and Halifax. We had some errands to run today like returning the old car battery that I replaced last week to get my deposit back. We did that at NAPA and oddly but conveniently, they were selling farm fresh eggs there so I bought a dozen. Asa has carried the battery in for me and was super confused. Is that how you do things in Canada? You bring the battery back and they give you a carton of eggs??
From there we went to Halifax harbor. The kids wanted an ice cream so we got that out of the way first.

They had a sculpture that kids were climbing on so mine joined in too. There was a playground right next to it but it wasn’t half as interesting as this extremely dangerous wave sculpture. There were signs warning not to climb on it that we noticed later. Cal and I decided it was very poorly designed if they didn’t want people to climb on it.

Then we got to board this WWII vessel. It was a “by donation” exhibit and any money they get goes towards upkeep.

They had a surprising amount of the ship open for exploring. You had to climb and descend ladders to see it all.

Then we walked the boardwalk. They had a fun obstacle course for the kids painted on the sidewalk. We did it twice it was so nice.

They had hammocks on the boardwalk and we were lucky enough to find one open. We played the telephone game and horsed around a bunch on the hammock then our parking meter was up so it was time to go.

When we left the harbor we ran to Walmart for a couple of shirts for Cal after his got worn out. We were also looking for snack-sized packages of snacks but couldn’t find much. They must not be popular in Canada. We had the same issue in France. The small packages are nice so the kids can be responsible for their own things when we go out. Before we leave the camper I give a list of what they might want to bring. Sweatshirt, sunscreen, hat, snack, drink, etc. I have some small baggies so I will just have to bag up some snacks from bigger bags we purchased.
We went to John’s Lunch for dinner. Cal and I shared fish and chips, Asa had a Beyond burger and the girls shared a pizza. It was all delicious.

When we got back to the campsite we played some games and had a fire. Our hosts joined us for some conversation. Nova and the other kids loved playing with the dogs. She drew those two pictures of the dogs. Odin is a big brindle Boxer but I must not have gotten a picture of him. Kayle is a Pomeranian.

Then it started to rain so I went in. The kids stayed out and played games in the rain until dark.
