We are back in the US! We left New Brunswick around 8am with plans to pick up Nole around 3 in Portland, Maine. Unfortunately his first flight was delayed causing him to miss his second flight. He got rebooked but now he won’t get here until after 11pm. The good news was we could take our time getting to Portland now.
I looked up things to do with kids in Bangor since we would be passing through and found an easy 2 mile hike called the Orono Bog Boardwalk.

They had some information plaques with plants to look for. You’ll also see examples we found.

We also saw other plants and trees.

We saw some bugs too. The mosquitos were pretty bad. They were landing on us even with deet bug spray on!

We got to our next Boondockers Welcome host site in Portland, Maine. This one is in a church parking lot and our host is the pastor. I picked up Little Caesars for dinner, a reliable crowd-pleaser. There’s no water for us at this site so I also filled an empty jug we had with enough water for hand washing and toilet flushing. We do have electric so that’s nice.
We walked/rode bikes to the park a couple of blocks away where there were playgrounds and a skate park.

We found what I thought was a geode in Nova Scotia and I let Asa crack it open tonight. It was not a geode. Some searching showed it might be something called a Moqui Marble native to Utah. Online it says they’re made of sandstone with iron oxide which seems consistent with what we have.
