What better way to spend spring break than with friends? About 2 hours into our drive, we got a call from Nole and realized we had taken his keys with us! We stopped at a FedEx and mailed them back home overnight and he worked from home today. Oops!

But then we were back on the road. Cal was able to help with some of the driving which was nice.

We made lots of stops like this one at a Culver’s on the Indiana/Ohio border in Richmond. The kids go to Richmond School hence the silly faces.

We got to Ohio about 3:15pm thanks to an early start. First order of business? Kids catch up and play and moms go grocery shopping. While picking up groceries, we saw this goose who found an interesting place to make a nest.

We made spaghetti for dinner and then worked on a puzzle.

Melissa suggested a walk and a bunch of the kids decided to come along. We crossed a creek, visited the three sisters (three 500+yr old trees), then crossed back.

There were some downed trees from recent storms.

Most interesting finds were trees that were hugging and a tiny plastic baby.

There were some flowers starting to bloom and we identified a bird using an app on Melissa’s phone–it was a Northern Flicker.

The kids seemed to enjoy playing in the mud the most.

We got home just before dark. The temperature was in the 50s today and the kids say it smells like grass here. It’s been a long day but some of the kids might still be up late catching up and not wanting the fun to end.
