Most of the Martins slept in today. I made pancakes for breakfast and then worked a little bit. Then Melissa and I played some Wingspan, one of our favorite games.

Finally, all the kids were awake and I made hot dogs for lunch. I was told Melissa never makes hot dogs this fancy (i.e. made on the stove instead of the microwave). It doesn’t take a lot to impress some people. B

Then it was time to head to a homeschool event that their family was hosting at the local pottery place. We all made mushroom people out of clay. Well I made an onion person and some of the others were loosely mushroom-like.

We will have to wait a month or so to see our creations again until the Yatzeck’s come visit because they need to be baked in the kiln. Then they can be painted and re-fired. While we waited for others to finish, some of us visited the outdoor cats that live on the property.

Then we went across the street to the park. Lily showed off her color guard skills and the boys played with sticks.

Katy and Nova found that awesome (dead) crayfish.
Then we went to dollar tree. We put (almost) everyone’s name in a hat and drew names for a un-birthday gift exchange. Each person got two people to get a dollar tree gift for and could also get one thing for themselves.

When we got home, we “wrapped” the gifts in a grocery bag and exchanged them.

When the gifts were passed out, we realized that Melissa wrote Nova’s name twice and skipped Asa so she got double gifts and Asa has none. It all worked out though and Asa was a good sport about it. We had mud cake to celebrate Lily’s recent birthday and everyone else’s that we missed celebrating together in the last year.

We spent the rest of the day playing games, playing outside, going for a walk, and talking. We made fancy ramen for dinner. We stayed up super late last night and I need to work most of the day tomorrow so we won’t be staying up as late tonight…hopefully.
