… hopefully I do know where I’m going.

Today we started a 6+ week journey through 12 states. We will see some of the west and southwest including finishing the Route 66 trip we started a year and a half ago.

We originally planned to get up around 4 am to leave. By the time we settled down to bed, that seemed unreasonable and unnecessary. We woke up at about 5am and left after 6.

The kids slept off and on which is the whole reason for leaving that early. Esme had a friend’s birthday party last night and didn’t get home until after 11 so she slept the most today.

Driving was fairly uneventful (just the way we like it). We did notice some smoke from the Canadian wildfires as we headed weet but it actually made for nice driving (no sunglasses needed!).

We stopped for gas and to fill the propane tanks somewhere in Minnesota and went back to the camper to make and eat sandwiches for lunch.

We finally made it to Sioux Falls SD at about 3:30pm. Not bad! Earlier than our original estimates. Nole drove the whole way ( 😳 ) and we are staying free at a Boondockers Welcome site with electric and water.

Nova only asked “How much longer?” about 8 times today, no one got car sick, and the boys only started to argue 5 minutes before we got there (about using proper English/parts of speech if you’re interested).

The bickering stopped when we got here and everyone has been busy with various activities. Since we had an early morning, it will probably be an early bedtime for us tonight.
