Reminder from yesterday’s post. Blue Angels = less adventurous hikers, Dark Angels = up for strenuous adventures.
First, here are pictures from the Dark Angels hike to Corona Arch last night.

This morning Dark Angels got up at 5:30 am and hiked Devil’s Garden all the way to Dark Angel,.a red rock pillar and the group’s namesake. Here are Nole’s and Cal’s pictures.

The Blue Angels slept in today. Esme and I got up about 9:30 and I woke Nova and Katy up at 10 for pancakes.

Nova and Katy dried dishes after breakfast which they were not the most thrilled about. I told them to pretend they were orphans and I was the mean lady who makes them do dishes to pay their way, haha. They lightened up a bit and finished drying in less than 10 minutes.

I took a shower in the outdoor shower at the campgrounds and when I was done, the Dark Angels returned from their hike and had lunch.

The kids really wanted froyo but they weren’t open yet and the adults couldn’t be convinced to spend the money. Instead, we went to the grocery store and bought ice cream and toppings and had an ice cream social.

Mary and Asa did the lunch and ice cream dishes and Melissa started dinner. Tacos! I made Mexican street corn. Dinner was delicious!

The Dark Angels were fading (they did not heed my nap advice after lunch). The Blue Angels had plans to go to a stargazing program at Canyonlands. But then there was a change of plans…the Blue Angel group wanted to stay home and the Dark Angel kids rallied and decided to go.

The ranger shower us many things in the sky and told interesting stories about the history of human knowledge and understanding of the night sky. I’ll be sharing some of the objects she pointed out with the rest of the group tomorrow.
Canyonlands was a beautiful park. Very different than Arches and worth seeing. We got home after midnight and I lead 4 zombies who had been awake 19 hours to their beds.
In other news, we looked ahead at our schedule for the next few days and decided we could stay here with the Yatzecks one more night. We plan to depart on Tuesday. Martins will go to Zion and Yatzecks will go to the Grand Canyon.
