Moab, Utah….still but moving on to ??
When you take a trip like this, you can’t help but think of all the things that could go wrong. Bad weather, health emergencies, car trouble, etc. I know that things always work out and try to remind myself that if we encounter the unexpected, we will roll with it and figure it out. I also like to look at the bright side when things go sideways.
First, the campground we stayed at. We didn’t plan to stay here at all and I found the place with a lot of digging and calling around the day before we arrived. It is a family owned place with 3 sisters and their parents running it. It wasn’t in the plan but they have been more than accommodating as we added an extra night…twice. They also gave us some advice on welding places we could try.
Second, we decided to stay an extra day to have more fun with the Yatzecks. If we left the day before, we may not have noticed the crack before we left.
Third, the heat. If I hadn’t been sitting in the only 2 square feet of shade on our site to avoid the oppressive sun, I would not have noticed the crack in the frame. Here is a photo in case you missed it yesterday.

Lastly, the power outage yesterday afternoon. When the power went out at our campsite, I went to the pavilion to see what was going on. I was told a car hit a power pole and the power would be back on shortly. One of the owners asked about the status of our camper repair and we told him no luck yet. Another guy told us he knew a welder who could help us. He got in contact with the guy and told us it would be free (we doubted this last part and in fact, the guy was pretty drunk so we kind of were not sure if it would work out at all).
So in the end, if we hadn’t changed campgrounds at the last minute, if we hadn’t stayed an extra night, if we hadn’t been avoiding the heat, and if we hadn’t had a power outage…we might not have noticed the crack and got it repaired so easily and cheaply (it wasn’t free but $100 was very reasonable that’s a win in our book!). If it broke fully, the camper would have been totaled and we may have had damage to our car or even been injured or caused an accident to other vehicles.

Very good! I follow you every day you are a Marvel Woman!
