I’ve always wanted to eat paper!

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Asa’s birthday

We slept great last night and woke up around 7:30 am to get ready for a day out in Oklahoma City with Jeff and Kristin. It wasn’t in the original plan but I saw that the Oklahoma City National Memorial offered a Junior Ranger Program and we decided to make that our first stop.

It was a solemn place and very different than the other National places we have visited on this trip. Esme and Nova earned their badges and from there we went to Myriad Botanical Gardens which is free to visit.

These hibiscus flowers were about 8-10″ across.

The botanical gardens also had a splash pad. All 4 kids ended up playing in the splash pad though Nova didn’t get very wet. Nova was feeling better today which is good news. The splash pad was the most intense one I have ever seen. It also had sound effects like thunder and birds that would play.

It was hot today and it didn’t take long for the kids to dry off. We were getting hungry so we made a quick stop at the OKC sign for a photo op with our hosts.

We ate leftover tacos for lunch and it was just as good as it was yesterday. Leftover cookie cake too!

We played Codenames and Jackbox games, ordered groceries and had stir fry for dinner.

After dinner we took the dogs for a walk and celebrated Asa’s birthday with a cake that Kristin and Jeff ordered.

The edge of the cake was covered in edible paper and the quote was from Asa (said completely seriously — he has always has loved the idea of eating paper but found it extremely unpalatable). The edible paper was actually really tasty!

After dessert, we played more Codenames before turning in for the night.
