Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
It was VERY windy last night. Our tent sides were quaking and it was pretty hot in the camper. The wind died down and it cooled off but some Martins had trouble falling asleep. Nole was restless most of the night so we let him sleep in this morning until about 10:30am.
Nova woke up with a sore throat and fever. Same symptoms as Esme who is 99% recovered today. Nova could not be convinced to take Tylenol but hopefully she naps in the car. That really seemed to help Esme yesterday.
We got on the road after 11am. We had no planned Route 66 stops today. Our only mission was to get to Oklahoma City to see our friends Jeff and Kristin. We found a free place to dump our sewer tanks. There are all kinds of free resources online that show you places you can park free overnight, get free water, and dump for free. While we do enjoy the luxury of full hookups (especially if we are staying a couple days), with those costing $50-80/night (excluding “resorts” with pools etc which can cost as much as a hotel!), it is nice to save the money when we can.
It was very overcast today. We felt a few raindrops in the past couple of days. We really haven’t encountered any measurable rain since Nebraska and our first days in Colorado. It has been much cooler the last couple of days with highs around 75.

We got to Oklahoma City about 4pm. I don’t have a lot of pictures because we had a lot of catching up to do with Jeff and Kristin. They’re letting us stay in their driveway which is great because it gives us tons of time to visit.

They got tacos for dinner tonight and they were delicious…and plentiful! We have enough leftovers to have them again tomorrow. Check out this amazing cookie cake Kristin custom ordered for us!

We watched movies and took the nicest, hottest showers we have had in a month in their bathroom. Of course we all gave lots of pets to their pups, Sawyer, Macy and Niko.

We talked until almost midnight before going to sleep. They both took off work tomorrow and we have a fun day planned.
