We started the day with the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade. I went down and secured a spot while the kids slept in a bit. The route was right outside our hotel doors which was super convenient. It was eerie seeing the street so empty.

I chose a corner spot which seemed good at first but it was hard to hold on to alone so I was glad when everyone else showed up.

The parade was really cool. It was our first time seeing floats like this in person.

Eventually, we got kind of cold and decided to see what we could see from inside the hotel. The Palmer House opened up the 4th floor convention hall for parade viewing. Then we went back to the room and watched a little of the Macy’s Day Parade on TV.

Next we had lunch in the room and went to Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) and did the SkyDeck.

We bought an attraction pass that gives us 3 cool experiences in Chicago. The SkyDeck was the first one we used on the trip.

SkyDeck has a bunch of selfie spots set up and an exhibit on the history of Chicago.

The SkyDeck is on the 103rd floor. Besides just having a great view, you get to go out on these glass fully-encased balconies. It’s a great place to take a picture!

It was so much fun, the boys decided to do it again (they only give you a couple of minutes to take pictures then you have to get back in line if you want to try again).
Giorgio tried a flip…

Cal did not try a flip but laid upside down…

Asa sat in the corner…

Since I took a lot of pictures, I’ll make a separate post about the rest of the day.
