My mom and I started talking about taking a trip to Germany about 3 years ago.  At that time, we decided to wait until COVID restrictions ended and talked about taking Esme and Nova as  well.  We finally got around to planning it this week. 

We will go for most of August. We will stay with my sister in Frankfurt for about a week then visit Doblinger relatives (my mom’s dad’s family) for about a week.  From there we will go to Salzburg, Austria where we will see several Sound of Music film sites.  

Tonight, the girls and I re-watched The Sound of Music together.  Nova said, “I didn’t know this movie was set in Austria…I thought Austria was a desert…”. To which Esme and I corrected her, “You’re thinking of Australia”.  (Esme and I have had this Austria/Australia discussion a few times because she keeps mixing them up.).

Nova then clarified that she was actually thinking of Kenya…
