Our flight leaves from Chicago tomorrow at 9am so we decided to stay at a hotel near the airport tonight. Ray’s daughter Becky gave us a ride to the airport. I took pictures of our luggage in case something goes missing.

Originally, we were only going to check one bag. I bought an Airtag for it and Esme helped me set it up yesterday. Then I started weighing our bags and saw that some were over the weight limit so we split them into more bags. So one has an Airtag and three do not. Hopefully if one gets lost, it’s the one with the Airtag!

We took the bus from Brookfield to O’Hare, then we had to get a shuttle to our hotel. This was a bit challenging with all the bags but not impossible. We found our shuttle pickup spot and hopped a ride to our hotel for the night.

We passed a Haribo factory on the way out of Wisconsin. Haribo is German company and the girls are excited to try some gummies in Germany that you can’t easily get here.
We checked out the room and had dinner at the pizza place in the hotel.

The hotel is nice. There is an assembly of Dominican Friars happening at the hotel. We got to mingle with them at the evening reception.

Nova wanted to swim but I didn’t think it was a good idea with blue hair (pool water will wash the color out). She was bored and sad that the best part of staying in a hotel was “ruined” so I put her hair up the best I could and off she went. It’s one bummer of having dyed hair, especially in summer.

Now we debate how much we should sleep and when. It would be awesome if we could sleep now and get up super early to help us get on Germany time. Since we all napped on the bus ride, that’s unlikely.
We are all full of anticipation and can’t wait to be in Germany but we have one day of travel ahead of us and won’t get there until early on Wednesday.
