I’m writing this post a day late because I haven’t been feeling the best. I have a pretty bad cough and it has been hot here. Although it was great to get lots of fresh air and exercise yesterday, I think it wore me down and I had a bad night and was awake with a cough.
When I first woke up, I thought maybe we should just head back to Candace’s house but I felt better after breakfast and we decided to try and go to a cool playground and take it easy. Bingen is across the Rhine River from Rudesheim. It is a bit quieter and less touristy and was just what the doctor ordered for today.

Because I wasn’t feeling great, I didn’t take a lot of pictures but we did have a really nice time. The playground was really creatively built and we had an excellent lunch right next door. When we had enough, we took the ferry back to Rudesheim and then took the train home. Our train was cancelled and we had to wait for the next one, along with about 100 other people.
The air conditioning wasn’t working on the train or the connecting train we took back to Candace’s so it was a hot, crowded ride. We got back to her place, took showers, felt human again, made dinner and went to bed.
Unfortunately, pharmacies are closed on Sundays with only a few exceptions. When we got back to her house, Candace gave me some cold medicine she bought in Egypt when Jasper got sick on their vacation. I decided to take a chance and take some. It did help my cough but I felt a bit odd and had some strange dreams. When I got up, I looked closer and noticed it contained codeine. We had a little laugh about it and then said we should all take some and go for a walk in the forest but, alas we are responsible adults and instead I will only take it again for my cough.
