High today is 95 degrees. It’s pretty darn hot and remember, no air conditioning in Germany except in some stores.
When we woke up, Esme said she had a sore throat and headache. She felt feverish as well. Candace took me to a pharmacy so I could get some meds for me (mucinex and eye drops) and some meds for Esme (Tylenol and ibuprofen). We also picked up a swim cap for Nova to try and protect the dye in her hair while she swims.
We went to the local pool which was a huge facility with 4 different pools. Esme stayed home to rest and my mom stayed with her. Nova wants to learn to swim but doesn’t want to take lessons from anyone but me. I’m not much of a taskmaster so she has been working on trying to do the back float for at least 6 lessons.

Her hair got wet anyway but I do feel like the swim cap protected it somewhat.
When we got back from the pool, Esme was awake and feeling a bit better after some Tylenol but still not herself.
We walked to the store to get her some Ramen and she ate that. I gave her ibuprofen and she felt pretty good after. So good that she came out to play with the neighbor’s cat who stopped by Candace’s backyard for a visit. Apparently this cat can sense a barbecue and he was correct, we were having a barbecue tonight in honor of my mom’s and Nova’s birthdays.

I didn’t get any pictures of the get together because I was busy talking and eating but we had a great time visiting with Stephan’s sister, brother-in-law, mother and father. Candace made a wonderful dinner and Stephan manned the grill. We had some nice grown up time since the kids kept busy watching a movie and playing. We each got some nice gifts from Stephan’s family (me too even though it was not my birthday!).
After the guests left, we made s’mores in the microwave from a kit we brought from home. We will miss these guys when we move on to the next leg of our trip tomorrow!

Happy Birthday, Nova!!! Love Grandma and Grandpa! Get well, Esme! 🌹🌹🌹💙
