Bavarian is a dialect of German spoken in the region we are currently in. “I mog di” means “I like you”. This wikipedia article explains more about the Bavarian language if you’re interested.

Today Gundi had the idea to go to a glass museum. It was more of a shop than a museum but we enjoyed it and everyone found a little something they wanted to buy.

The girls each got a tiny mug engraved for under 5€. Nova’s has her name and Esme wanted her girl scout camp name, “el gato”.

It was raining pretty hard and we waited out the rain under a canopy for a while. Here the girls are sharing my sweater.

Then we grabbed lunch/snack from the cafeteria before dodging rain drops back to the car and back home.

We rested a bit and then went to dinner at a Napoleon style pizzeria in Passau.

Esme posed with the sharp butter knife.

Esme and Nova shared half of a cheese pizza. Nova doesn’t care for thin pizza but Esme liked it. My mom and I got a pizza with chanterelles, ham and onion.
At dinner, Tobi said he might come to the U.S. next year. We are hoping he does because we would love not only to see him again but to repay some of the kindness they have shown us during our stay here.

The weather tonight was beautiful. Sunny and about 68 degrees. We walked through town a bit to get an ice cream before going to Tobi’s house to visit his cat, Louis.

The girls enjoyed some cat time as always — they miss their cats whenever we travel. Nova’s ear has been bothering her. I think it’s just viral or inflammation, not bacterial. She and I are still coughing from whatever virus we had over here but Esme seems back to normal.

Nova has loved chatting with friends back home while here in Europe. She’s talking to Katy right now, teaching her some German words. Technology makes travel easier in lots of ways, and for the girls, easy communication with home is #1.
