My mom and I went out before everyone got up to refill a propane tank and get a few things from Walmart. When we got back, some Yatzecks were awake and we started making breakfast together: pancakes, bacon and fruit. Everyone at their fill and after all the dishes were done, we left for the Ledges Trail hike.

Spirits were high as we got there. The kids are all getting older and we no longer have to bribe them with gum, mints and candy like we used to.

This hike had lots of cool rock formations. The kids liked climbing around and exploring so the 2 mile hike took us about 2 hours.

I kept myself entertained by collecting things Melissa said on the hike.
Here’s a big ole tree!
Ooh! Mushroom party!!
Twin trees!
This is a tulip tree. They make telephone poles out of these.
You know what’s neat about skunk cabbage?
Ooh, I want to see a caterpillar!
Oh look, a bridge!

I tease a bit but her excitement keeps the kids entertained, interested, and moving along.

Some of us skipped the last up and down the rocks to head back to the cars while some finished the hike. In the parking lot, Nova and my mom found this bumblebee and I stopped to take a picture. She tried to fly away but was feeling a bit weak with the weather. She tumbled around a little then flew off.

We went to Brandywine Falls next. The sky was looking a bit iffy and rain was expected soon but we had to see the falls!

Most of us did a quick “falls overlook” walk and then had a picnic lunch. Melissa and Joe did a gorge trail. We all met back at the campsite and worked to put things away before the rain came.

We scrapped our plan of spaghetti for dinner with the incoming rain. It also seemed like a good idea to eat all the leftovers anyway.
When the rain started, we played games under the awning and in the camper including Five Crowns, which I won!
