While packing up the camper for travel this morning, I was surprised by this spider in the kitchen. It’s a good thing it was morning because if it was nighttime, I’m not sure I could have fallen asleep easily and spiders don’t usually bother me that much. Joey came to the rescue and we caught and released it outside. He said it’s a fishing spider.

On our way out of Quechee, we stopped to feed these alpacas in the strip mall and went to a candy shop where the girls spent some of their own money.

We arrived at our new campground in New Hampshire and got set up fairly quickly. Esme helps me set up the camper now.

Melissa, Joe, and Joey saw tomorrow’s weather forecast and decided to change their hiking plans to today which left me and the 4 girls to entertain ourselves.

We decided to check out Diana’s Baths. First though, we stopped at the White Mountain National Forest ranger station in Conway and picked up Junior Ranger books. The girls can work on them tomorrow and drop them off on our way out of town on Sunday to get their badges. This ranger station is open 7 days a week.

We wore our swimsuits and made the 0.6 mile trek into the forest toward the waterfall.

The water was as cold as ice and it hurt to put your feet in. I was doubtful anyone would do more than dip their toes in.

Lily was the first one in and coaxed the others to join her.

There were a lot of pools (aka baths) and multiple waterfalls.

The girls and I climbed up the rocks to the different levels of the waterfall.

Lily “washed” her hair.

I had to take multiple pictures in each location as the girls posed. I was basically there as the photographer. Nova and Lily especially like to have their picture taken and are always posing.

I discovered that my phone has a long-exposure setting and took the following pictures with that.

Nova and I sat on the cliff over the waterfalls for bit

Lily went in for one more dip and then we walked back to the car.

We picked up pizza at Domino’s for dinner and ate on paper plates. No cooking and no clean-up! The girls played on the playground at the campground. Most of the campgrounds we visited so far don’t have many of their summer amenities up and running yet and this place is no exception – the pool is still closed. One nice thing about traveling in May is lower crowds but it does have its downsides. The office told me the *might* have a wagon ride today or tomorrow.
Melissa, Joe, and Joey got back to the campsite after a rigorous hike around 7:30 and ate some pizza while we chatted about our next couple of stops on the trip.
This is our last site with any sort of hookups for a week. We have electric and water here. We will make sure we charge everything up tomorrow night and take water with us to our next stop.
Tonight the girls plan to watch a movie using the projector and DVD player while I do laundry. It’s a pretty sweet set up but requires electricity to work (battery power won’t cut it).
