Bagels for breakfast today. I have been making them in a pan and they turn out pretty good! I use a second pan to hold them down so they make good contact with the grill.

We left the BLM campground and had a choice of two roads. One was recommended by the campground hosts but it was very muddy this morning so we decided to take the same road we came in on. They were doing work on it today and we almost thought we’d have to turn back but the worker out there doing leveling made room for us.

We passed through Kokadjo on our way out. Population, not many.

He stopped at Lily Bay to get the kids Junior Ranger badges.

Then we drove to Walmart near Acadia. These pink sausages caught our eye. The color surprised us. Later when looking for a possible restaurant to eat some lobster on one of the days we are here, we saw “reds” on the menu. Melissa looked at the package and it’s just dyed with red 40. Very strange.

We let each kid (and adult) pick out an ice cream pint and then we sat on a curb in the parking lot eating them. I had to replace a propane tank so I also took care of that before we left. We will need propane (and battery power) to run the fridge in the camper for the next 4 days.

From there it was about 40 minutes to Blackwoods Campground in Acadia National Park. Melissa and I secured these reservations back in January. Campsites inside national parks have timed releases, usually 6 months or so in advance at 10 am.
I was rushing when taking the camper off and the camper slipped back off the blocks I set the tongue on. The tongue landed on the ground which is an issue because it was too low to get back up and my hitch. Melissa came up with the idea to use their hitch on my car since it could be adjusted lower and Joe helped me get it high enough to get back on my hitch. When we got it level, he declared it “dead nuts” which made Melissa and me laugh. I looked up the origin of “dead nuts” if you’re interested.

From our campsite, we walked the path to the ocean which is only about 1/4 mile from our camper.

It’s a cliff but there are some climbable areas so we went down a bit for a better view.

We spotted this cormorant and I took this video to show how impressive the zoom on my camera is.

I have a Pixel 9 pro which I paid a bit extra for because I wanted a high quality camera. I have my Cannon point-and-shoot with me but haven’t used it much since the zoom on my camera is so good.
I talked to Nole on the phone and then Melissa and I looked at a list we made today where we wrote down every activity we thought looked interesting to do in Acadia and then put them to a vote with the kids. Then we mapped out an itinerary for the 3 full days we are here. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
I was so exhausted that I couldn’t keep my eyes open to finish the blog so I did it this morning.
