We had a late breakfast of pancakes and bacon after Melissa, Joe and Joey returned from their hike. Then we all packed into their car with a lot of the food to go see the Sand Bar Path. We put on swimsuits and shorts for the occasion because it was 74 degrees today!
First thing, sunscreen for the pale people.

This sand bar appears every day at low tide for a total of about 3 hours. The first picture below shows how far me, Nova, Katy and Esme got before we turned back. It was freezing out on the sandbar with arctic winds blowing at us!

Back on the shore where we started it was 74 degrees and beautiful. The girls buried Katy in the “sand” which was very coarse.

The girls made “snacks” for us like this lovely crab-on-a-half-shell made by Katy.

The others joined us while Melissa hunted the tide pools for a bit longer.

We had an hour left on our parking spot but we decided to walk back to the car and move to a park where we could eat our lunch more easily.
I saw these flowering plants on my way back to the car.

Nova rested while the other kids played basketball at the park.

Then it was time to go to Sand Beach, one of the only sandy beaches on the coast near here. The crowd was split on going to another beachy area. We weren’t sure if we would find parking and the water would probably be cold and that arctic wind might be an issue. When we found a parking spot right away we all decided to give it a go. The kids had a great time. I was pretty cold and covered up with Nova’s towel. Lily went in the ocean even though the water temp was 52 degrees! First, they buried Lily in the sand.

Then Katy buried her feet so she and Nova could see what it’s like to be the same height.

Esme worked in her sketch book.

Next stop was Thunder Hole. If you’re there at the right time of day, water shoots up as it hits the rocks here. We were too early but it was still a cool view.

Back at the campsite, our fridge was dying due to not enough battery power. We moved everything into coolers and added more ice to the coolers. After a rest, it was time to make dinner. Steak and green beans were made in an effort to eat some of our refrigerated food.
While making dinner we noticed this cool moth. Google Image Search tells us it’s a Blinded Sphinx Moth. It pooped all over Lily. Twice.

The mosquitos have been loving some of us. I have had a bite or two but Esme has quite a few, and big ones!

Joe, Melissa, and I went down the path from the campground to the ocean to sit in this serene spot and write the blogs. Tomorrow we have an early wake up time of 3:15am planned. Stay tuned…
