All the pretty little horses

We tried to get up and moving early but the heat made it hard to get the kids going.  Eventually everyone was up and packing up their things.  It was only 8 am but it was about 83 degrees.  While we were packing, some horses visited us. They were super close to our camper so it was like we had a viewing chamber to see them up close!

They munched grass and the baby rolled around scratching an itch and waiting for her mom to finish breakfast.

We were on the road before 9 but we hit a little traffic on the way out of the park due to horses in the road.

There was other traffic along our way too and our 2.5 hour trip ended up taking 4+ hours, not counting our stop for lunch.

We got to our next campground, Cherry Hill Park which is a resort-y campground outside of Washington DC.  My mom and Ray flew into DC this morning and made it to the campground in their rental car about the same time we did.  They have a really posh cabin with air conditioning, a bathroom with flush toilet and shower and a full kitchen.

We went to the pool right after we got things set up (they have 2 pools and a splash pad here!) because sweat was literally pouring off of us.  It was about 90 degrees by then.  The water felt great.  So great I forgot to take any pictures of the kids swimming.

Next on the agenda was showers and groceries.  We had shopped not that long ago so we just needed two meals and a couple of other items to get through the week.  We brought all of our groceries from the camper to the full-sized fridge in the cabin to keep all the food in a central location for cooking.  The cabin also has a table large enough for the whole group.  Oh and did I mention the air conditioning?  The camper has air conditioning but it has a hard time keeping up when it’s this hot.

We made and ate dinner and then we tried these Oreos from China.  They’re grape and peach flavored.  They were ok but none of us could eat more than one or two.

We had a small fire back at our campsite for s’mores and made some plans for tomorrow.
