Magic Kingdom

Today was finally the day for Disney World’s largest park, Magic Kingdom.

We slept well (about 10 hours).  I was worried about my feet last night because it felt like blisters might be forming.  There were some sore areas this morning but no blisters.  I wore sandals yesterday so I switched back to tennis shoes today.  We all wore shorts today and there were a few times where some complained it was too hot (not me!).  We left the hotel around 7:15, arrived at Magic Kingdom before they started letting people in, got to go in the park early and start riding rides early due to being resort guests.

This week we watched some videos of some of the rides so the girls could decide if they wanted to go or not.  They both decided they would ride the Seven Dwarves Mine Train ride so we got in that line first.  We were near the beginning of the line.  They started letting people on the ride at 8 and we were off the ride by 8:10.

We went to Peter Pan’s Flight next, then Small World, then Haunted Mansion.

Nova freaked a little getting on Haunted Mansion.  We were kind of rushing to get more rides done before the waits got long so we didn’t fully explain that the ride was dark, what to expect etc.  We got her on but it took a few other rides before she was smiling again.

Esme rode the carousel and we all tried to pull the sword from the stone.

We did Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Dumbo, and Barnstormer next before we stopped for a treat.

Then we went to Mickey’s Philharmagic and Hall of Presidents.  It was noon when we finished Hall of Presidents and we had really accomplished a lot of what we wanted to do today already!

We got lunch and talked about the weird weather today. School is closed back home due to the cold weather.

After lunch it was time for Pirates of the Caribbean, Aladdin’s Flying Carpets, Jungle Cruise, and Tiki Room.

I really enjoyed the updated Country Bears show!  They sang Disney classics like a Whole New World and You’ve got a friend in me.

Next we got a closer look at the castle before going to Monsters Inc Laugh Floor which also was a good show, even if we have gone many times before.

We went on Carousel of Progress next.  I’ve never done this ride before (that I can remember) and it was a relaxing and entertaining way to spend 20 minutes (also was sitting and in air conditioning so it made a nice break).  The ride actually malfunctioned so we “had to” sit for an extra 10 minutes.  After that we split up.  I went to stand in the 70 minute line for their newest ride, Tron, while the girls and Nole got dinner and went on Winnie the Pooh.  Again, I got a chance to write the blog while I waited in line for Tron!

We found a good spot to watch the light show parade and spent about 45 minutes defending it (it’s a dog-eat-dog world of parade and firework spot finding and keeping at Disney). I picked a spot that would be good for the fireworks too since that was right after the parade.

We had about a 45 minute wait after the parade for the fireworks show.  The show was really great.  I think even Nova enjoyed it (she declared she did not want to stay for it but was out voted).

It was tough getting down Main Street after the fireworks ended but eventually we made it back to the bus stop.  More waiting here because it took 2 full buses before we made it on one, and then it was standing for the 15-ish minute drive back to the hotel where we fell into bed immediately.

Here are my steps so far this week.  Fewer today but it felt like just as many.  We did less criss-crossing the park today, instead doing one area at a time.
