When I booked this trip, the cheapest flights out were either 6 in the morning or 8 in the evening so I took 8 in the evening. I thought it would be good to have a little wiggle room for park days too. It’s not ideal to do a park on the day you arrive or the day you leave but if someone is sick or the weather is too awful, it’s nice to have the option.
First I need to share the picture we bought yesterday that I forgot to post.

There was a good one we didn’t buy from the DINOSAUR ride at Disney that I was sort of regretting (though we still have the option to do it through the Disney Parks app) but this one was kinda perfect.
This morning I made a big batch of pancakes to use up some of the leftover pancake mix (not something I was keen to take home with us). We ate our fill and then packed up the room…well everyone packed up except Nova. At that point it was just 9am. We laid around for an hour and then I suggested going to the pool. It looked cold outside and there wasn’t a soul in the pool area except for 4 very bored looking lifeguards.

We all put our suits on and went to the hot tub. The air temperature actually wasn’t too bad. We took 3 towels each so we could dry off really well when we got out. We spent about an hour down there and trickled back up to the room for showers and final packing. Nova was the last one to shower and still had to pack all of her things up but we managed to get out of the room by noon, the late checkout time they gave us.
We left our things with luggage services and then took a shuttle to City Walk. We had been eyeing up Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. since we arrived. We went to one in Times Square last summer and we all liked the idea of a meal there but I didn’t want to spend the time it would take for sit-down service on a park day (we were either too busy or too exhausted). Today seemed like the perfect day and we still had at least 5 hours to blow before going to the airport.
On the bus here, Nova realized she may have forgotten her favorite lip gloss somewhere in the room…or it may be packed in one of her bags. We decided not to spend 45 minutes+ to ride the bus back to the bus then back to City Walk but we notified the hotel who said housekeeping would keep an eye out for it when they cleaned the room.
We all enjoyed our lunch. Esme got a tenders kid’s meal and Nova had shrimp cocktail. Nole and I shared a couple of shrimp dishes.

We did a little more shopping and found something to bring home for Cal and Asa.

Then we rested in the sun a bit. The temperature was up to 63 degrees and it felt wonderful. It’s 14 degrees at home right now. This weekend, Orlando is expecting more freezing temps overnight so we aren’t missing much by going home.

We were getting a little hot so we took the shuttle back to the hotel one last time. We chose some comfy seats indoors and out by the pool and rested until about 5 when we collected our bags and took an Uber to the airport. Nova was still sad about her lost lipgloss (the hotel didn’t find it) and the fact that we forgot two snack sized bags of Pirates Booty but I assured her it’s all replaceable. That didn’t help much.
Now we’re at the airport. We got here super early but everyone’s happy and settled at the gate. See you soon, Wisconsin!
