The one with the picture that definitely isn’t photoshopped

Last night we stayed up as late as we wanted which meant most of us fell asleep around midnight or 1 am. Nova was one of the last awake. She was also the first awake this morning at 8:30am.

The kids had hoped to swim today but it was very windy. Our Airbnb host called it a hurricane which I thought was pretty unlikely. We took our chances and headed to the local market. We arrived just as they were closing so we got some good deals.

We bought stuff to make caprese sandwiches. Asa got a mango and we got some other fruits and veggies too.

We also stopped at a store called GIFI where I let the kids each buy something. I bought a tin, Cal bought a magic worm, and the girls each bought a small toy. I talked them out of the moon sand they wanted to buy. I also bought a beach mat to use while we are in France since our towels are too small to lay on at the beach.

We debated whether or not to take the bus back because it was only for 2 stops and it costs about 2€ each ($2.15 each) and ended up walking back. Today I bought a 24 hour pass to use tomorrow so we can take the bus as much as we want.

After a quick lunch we left on the bus (this time leaving our car at the Airbnb altogether–yesterday we drove part way). The kids wanted to see a movie so we picked out the live action Aladdin and found a theater playing it in English with French subtitles (as opposed to dubbed in French). The bus ride there was supposed to take about 1 hour with 2 transfers but we missed our bus and the next one was delayed a long time. It meant lots of waiting at the bus stop.

I advise against a place selling both burgers and tacos/Chinese food/etc. Cal and I thought this sign was pretty funny.

Some cool bit art spotted by Asa.

Esme found some big leaves to play with while we waited for our bus.

The movie was good. I was a little distracted by the subtitles because I wanted to know the French translation for everything. French movie theaters have overpriced snacks just like in the US. They sold both salty and sweet popcorn and we ordered one of each. Cal and Asa wanted to sneak into another movie after Aladdin and make it a double feature but the girls and I vetoed it.

The theater was located right next to the modern art museum so we admired some of their outdoor pieces on our way back to the bus stop.

It had started raining a little but we were either under a bus shelter or on the bus for most of it.

We got back to the Airbnb and I had the kids pose for a quick picture in front of it.

We ate a ton of candy and popcorn and weren’t really hungry for dinner so now we are lounging and playing before bed.

P.S. It was Cal’s idea to take the photo by the truck with Esme. He did the photo editing. Original:
