This is the name for slugs, meaning “naked snail”. There are lots of slugs on our walks in the forest and you have to be careful where you step unless you like a slippery squish under your shoe.
We mostly slept well and through the night except for my mom and Esme who woke up early. I got up and walked with Candace and the kids to the bus stop for camp and then Candace and I went shopping for a few groceries and bakery.
I have a cold and I was able to find some chai latte mix and cough drops. I drank my chai outside and watched the wildlife. I saw a squirrel and a woodpecker. Candace told me there are hedgehogs here so that may be my new mission: see a wild hedgehog.

My mom and Esme went back to sleep and I woke everyone up around 9:30 to eat breakfast and get ready to go into Frankfurt. Candace helped us figure out how to take the train into the city.

Nova chose this dirndl to wear. It’s one we bought on a day trip to Germany while we visited France in 2019.

We got McDonald’s for the girls. Esme declared the nuggets better than at home, Nova declared them inedible. I couldn’t taste the difference but I am not a nugget aficionado.

Esme wanted to see what this star sculpture was and it turns out it was a giant symbol for the European Union.

We walked around Frankfurt and headed toward a playground.

The playground had a water feature. By the time they were done playing here it was time to work on getting home. We left Frankfurt and arrived back home with about 45 minutes to rest before going to get the kids from the bus. N

Nova worked on a “Make-It” toy she got and Esme put together a Lego set she bought. Some of us stopped at the store on the way to get the kids from camp and bought some colorful hard boiled eggs and some candy.

I made a simple dinner of Hellman’s recipe for Parmesan chicken and we also had a tomato salad with fresh veggies from Candace’s and her mother-in-law’s garden. Then just the moms went on a long walk to see some gardens.

The kids helped me make brownies from a mix we brought from home and then played on the trampoline until bedtime.
