Dentists here are called Frau and Herr i.e. Mr and Mrs rather than doctor.
I have a bad cold so after trying to get up around 8:30, I decided to take meds, go back to bed and sleep a bit more. It’s a bummer being sick on a trip. When I woke up later, I felt a lot better. Initially I was thinking I should cancel the dentist appointment but ended up making it to the appointment.
When Stephan’s sister examined my broken filling on Wednesday, she noticed another filling about to break next to it. So today I went back to get the other tooth fixed. She has been so kind to me and hasn’t charged me anything because I’m “family”. I did bring some peanut butter bars i bought at Trader Joe’s back home to give as a gift.
Candace and I had a good laugh looking at some of the books in the waiting room. See the cartoon below which makes no more sense when translated. Must be a German humor thing?

While we were at the dentist, my mom took the girls around the mall. We met up with them when we were done. Esme had noticed one of those cotton candy machines and had to have one.

We went to a store called Müller which is kind of like Target. It’s back to school shopping time here and we saw several stores with cones for sale. I remember my grandma gave me one on my first day of kindergarten.

Here is some more information on them if you’re interested:

They had a crazy huge board game area. I picked one out and then put it back, deciding to do some research and return another day. It would need to be a game that doesn’t require reading. I took some pictures of the options and plan to research them soon. They had German versions of many of our favorite games, including Wingspan.

The mall had a selfie spot set up where you could pose for photos.

We had a late lunch at the mall at an Asian food stall. The food was really good! Nova and Esme were going to share spaghetti and the cashier said they could make it plain with butter on the side then handed it to me and said he put the butter on top because there was no container to use for butter on the side. It can be hard finding things for picky eaters in other countries because of language barriers and cultural etiquette differences. In the end, it worked out because Nova at most of the pasta on her own and Esme ate a big bowl of rice from the Asian food place.
We went home and after a short rest, went to pick the kids up from the bus. We stopped at the grocery store and got a few more things for dinner. Candace had DIY pizzas planned.
The kids all played together in the backyard with party balloons we filled with water and sprinkler under the trampoline.
We had another wonderful dinner together and then walked to the bank to use the ATM. When we got back, we packed an overnight bag and lunches for a girl’s trip we have planned for tomorrow.
